Home Care Compass publishes educational content about home safety, accessibility, daily living, and related topics. This page explains how we approach accuracy, updates, independence, and corrections.

1. Purpose and scope

This policy applies to articles, guides, hub pages, and other editorial pages on this site. It does not replace our Medical Disclaimer or Affiliate Disclosure, which describe important limits on professional advice and how the site may be funded.

2. Editorial independence

  • We aim to choose topics and framing based on reader needs and sound editorial judgment.

3. How we research and fact-check

We combine careful review of reputable public sources (for example government health and safety agencies, recognized standards organizations, and established medical institutions when cited) with practical, plain-language explanation.

  • We distinguish between general educational information and individualized medical, legal, or professional advice—which we do not provide.
  • Where we cite statistics or guidelines, we aim to point to the underlying source or document type so you can verify context.
  • Product and category pages focus on planning questions and typical use cases, not guarantees of outcomes for any individual.

4. Sources, citations, and “last reviewed”

Guides that draw on outside research include a Sources and references section with links you can check yourself. We name the publisher or agency when we can and note what each source helped us explain.

Complex or fast-moving topics may also show a “last reviewed” or “last updated” date on the page. That date applies to that page only, not to every article on the site automatically.

5. Corrections and feedback

We aim to fix clear errors of fact and to clarify wording when it may mislead readers. If you believe something on the site is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us through our Contact page and include the page URL and a short description of the issue. We may not be able to respond to every message, but we review reasonable correction requests as we are able.
